Sounds like they're emphasizing Harry's conflict with Umbridge, along with leading up to the battle at the end by having a lot of Sirius and a buildup of Bellatrix. Seems sensible to me. They said once their strategy is to throw out everything that's not Harry's story and that sounds like the moves you'd expect based on that thinking.

- Hermione, she looks scared
- shot of Ron. (Harry: "why does nobody beleive me")

*Sigh*

Okay, I don't want to hear anyone else criticize Kloves for his portrayal of Ron.

But can't I criticize Kloves's portrayal of Ron and the OotP portrayal of Ron? :D

I think my strategy will be to hope the Harry v. Umbridge stuff is great and look forward to the battle at the end. That, I suspect, will be properly awesome.

Yeah, I'm kind of anxious to see how that "nobody believes me" actually looks and what point they're making with that. I do hope they realize that the Harry-Ron conflict is, yanno, over.

Well, Seamus is such a minor character, and someone's gotta not believe Harry about Voldemort's return! And it's not like Ron will have a Quidditch subplot taking up his time, soooo.....

But Seamus is in the movie, and he's quite pointedly not in the DA picture. Gah. I *hope* they're not putting that subplot on Ron.

I'm not a huge Kloves fan, but at least with him I felt like he wouldn't be worse than a certain point. He gets it mostly, even if I sometimes don't like the way he realizes things. But with this new screenwriter - who knows how bad he could be.

Good catch about Seamus and the DA picture, though. You're probably right.

I blame the producers and directors more for what is done to Ron's character than Kloves, as most who know me know. And, I mostly enjoy watching Grint handle the role so I don't get too bent out of shape anyway. PLUS, I am an annoying movie apologist who thinks a lot of people whine and wank too much about the films in general.

But.

If they have Ron performing that function I WILL WIN THE MOVIE WANK TITLE :P

Thankfully, I really don't think they will.

Well WB confirmed that the still of the Trio takes place in the Hog's Head.
And Rupert and Julie have talked about the Weasleys having a nice Christmas which I assume will be at Grimmauld Place. So I really doubt they're going to pin that subplot on Ron. Which doesn't mean there won't be something to complain about. That spider scene they tried but dropped because of Rupert's arachnophobia definitely makes me nervous about OotP. I loved Ron in GoF. So after that, the comments Kloves made in Creative Screenwriting, and reading the PoA and CoS scripts I'm glad he's coming back for HBP.

Yanno - If that happens I think this really will be the last movie I bother to see. I don't even care if that's a wanky statement either. :P

*pets Canon Ron*

Other than that everything sounds quite good. I can't wait to see Evanna!
