First of all, since I know that several of you are in different time zones, I'll go ahead and take this opportunity to say:
Happy New Year!
I hope you all will be safe, successful, and happy in 2004.
And since the end of the year tends to put me into "reflective mode", I thought I'd put together a few "Best Of" lists.
My Favorite Films of 2003 (in no particular order; I hate ranking)
* Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
* Kill Bill, vol. 1
* Lost in Translation
* American Splendor
* Pirates of the Caribbean
* Haute Tension
* Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
* Finding Nemo
* The Magdalene Sisters
* The Passion of the Christ (technically a 2004 film, but I saw it this year and the finished version will likely be on next year's list)
My Favorite Movie Lines/Moments of 2003
* "That! Is what! You get! From f**in' around with yakuzas! Now, go home to your mother!" (Uma Thurman, Kill Bill)
* "That still only counts as one!" (John Rhys-Davies, ROTK)
* "You're not a man of God!" (Eileen Walsh, The Magdalene Sisters)
* Mine? (seagulls, Finding Nemo)
* Dory speaking whale in Finding Nemo
* "I can't carry it for you . . . but I can carry you!" *bawls* (Sean Astin, ROTK)
* "My friends . . . you bow to no one." *bawls* (Viggo Mortenson, ROTK)
* meeting Peter Jackson, Phillippa Boyen, Fran Walsh and Mel Gibson in Austin
* watching PotC with Susan, Kirk, and Christine
* "Clearly, you've never been to Singapore." (Johnny Depp, PotC)
* Jack the monkey clueing in before Barbosa in PotC
* THE LIGHTING OF THE BEACONS! (ROTK)
* The passing of Marlin's story through the ocean (Finding Nemo)
* The "lying in bed" scene b/n Bill Murray & Scarlett Johannson (Lost in Translation)
* Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation (this thing REWLS!)
* The 180 degree emotional turnaround of the heathen BNAT audience watching The Passion of the Christ
My Favorite Internet Events of 2003
* Joining the HP online fandom
* The posting of the POA trailer & the hysteria that followed
* Sugar Quill's Useless and Possibly Untrue Harry Potter Facts (link provided; Enjoy!)
* Providing a scoop for aint-it-cool-news.com
* Y!M convos
Ummmmm . . . I guess it's sort of film-centered, but that's a huge part of my life, so . . .
I hope you all will be safe, successful, and happy in 2004.

Oh my god! I was laughing so hard at that I was snorting. Which I hardly ever do--muy embarrassing.
