connielane at 12:09pm on 29/05/2006* I hope all of the Yanks on my flist are enjoying a nice Memorial Day, hopefully away from work and the stresses of weekday life. I know I plan to, because relaxing times at work will officially be over first thing tomorrow morning when our summer programs start.
* In less than 8 weeks, I'll be winging my way to Salt Lake City, en route to Cedar City for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. And thence to Vegas for Lumos. I recently got the other half of my airline reservations, and I'm very excited at the prospect of a vacation that lasts over a week.
* In sadder news, actor Paul Gleason - best known for playing Principal Richard Vernon (who may or may not have been raiding Barry Manilow's wardrobe) in The Breakfast Club - died Saturday of a rare form of lung cancer that is linked to asbestos.
* I went to see Over the Hedge this weekend. It's very cute, and - like Shrek before it - has plenty of laughs for adults as well as kids. Steve Carrell, voicing the high-strung Hammy, is love.
* In HP fandom news, it's been a while since I felt like slugging someone over their opinions on a children's book, but this is simply appalling. This person can say "but Ginny's not real" all he wants, but his issues with women and sexuality (and, bizarrely, cheerleaders) clearly ARE real.
