I tried so hard not to do this meme - lots of Google searches and linking involved, not to mention the fear of being mocked mercilessly for one or more of my pairings. But I was tagged so here goes.
1. Pick your 5 favorite OTPs
2. Give the name of the OTP and what fandom* they're from
3. List your favorite moment between them
4. Tag 5 people from your flist to do this meme
Adding "post-a-pic" step. And, if you can believe it, there's not a bickering pair in the group. There are lots of those that I enjoy very much, but I couldn't put them in the top 5 and push one of these out.
5. Dawson/Joey - Dawson's Creek

Yeah, go ahead and laugh. The promise of this pairing was what hooked me to the show from the first episode. It was the perfect example of a pairing that would have worked much better in a movie than on television. I sat with my friends and cried when they got together at the end of the first season and watched in frustration as the writers tried - and failed - to keep it interesting. But that's the curse of writing people who seem "destined" for one another. There's nowhere for their characters to go after the relationship happens. I lost interest in the show once it became "Joey's Creek", and I sorely missed the wide-eyed optimism and innocence of the early episodes.
Favorite moment: Very first scene of very first episode. Joey declines to "sleep over", explaining that it's starting to get weird now that they're teenagers and their bodies are changing. Dawson persuades her to stay, insisting that nothing has to change between them. She climbs in the bed awkwardly, facing away from him. He looks at her for a moment, briefly troubled for a reason he doesn't understand, and says "Why'd you bring this up?"
4. Felicity/Ben - Felicity

First of all, let me just say that this pairing sets a very bad example for girls. :P You'd think that Felicity would have more sparks with Noel, her soulmate in all things neurotic. But Felicity/Ben turned out to be way more interesting - and more "spark"y. I liked the pairing for self-indulgent reasons at first. The idea of following your high school crush across the continent and having him eventually fall in love with you was certainly very appealing to me personally. But I loved the way it developed in the series. It stayed interesting, and it stayed hot. I loved Ben's reasons for loving Felicity. I loved the way Felicity wanted to make him a better man. And I loved that they had problems, trust issues, and other angsty stuff.
Favorite moment: Felicity and Ben watching a Charlie Chaplin movie on the roof of their dormitory.
3. Maud/Roland - Possession, by A.S. Byatt

Sadly, there are no etchings of the canon pairing, so I'll have to use a pic from the film. *resolves not to start giving review of said film*
I don't agree with Byatt's taste in children's books, but Possession is one of my favorite novels ever, and one of the reasons is because of the romance between Roland Michell and Maud Bailey. Not exactly a bickering couple, but part of a tradition that is often combined with the bickering paradigm - the posh, uppity female and the male who isn't good enough for her.
Favorite moment: "You have your certainties. Literary theory. Feminism. A sort of social ease, it comes out with Euan, a world you belong in. I haven't got anything. Or hadn't. And I grew -- attached to you. I know male pride is out of date and unimportant, but it mattered." (p. 549)
2. Tomas/Tereza - The Unbearable Lightness of Being

I have yet to read the novel, but the film is one of my favorite movies ever, and one of the most moving love stories I've ever seen. Watching Tereza struggle not to care about Tomas's philandering is painful. And seeing Tomas give up his freedom to be with Tereza is ... *sobs*
Favorite moment: Penultimate scene. Tomas is walking Tereza up the stairs of an inn. He has his hand over her eyes until they reach ... room 6. She grins at him and they make their way through the door.
1. Jessie/Celine - Before Sunrise/Before Sunset

I can't talk about romance and not include this pairing. Before Sunrise has always been one of my favorite movie romances. Highly romantic premise that positively reeks of OMGdestiny. And when it's over you can decide for yourself whether they ever see each other again. Then Before Sunset comes along and forces reality on all the romantic projections. But it's no less romantic. How does that happen?
Favorite moment: The end of the second movie...
Celine, doing an impression of Nina Simone: "You... are gonna miss that plane."
Jessie: "I know."
