...instead of me saying - eh, I'll just stay till five and get some more stuff done.

Well, it's been about 18 hours since I've even looked at the DT (yay me!). After reading kia's attack on [livejournal.com profile] acemyth's shipper debate treaty, I can't imagine the debate is any more intelligent than it has ever been.

I'm hoping to see American Splendor this afternoon. I've heard excellent things about it, and I'm glad to see that Paul Giamatti has finally gotten a decent, meaty role. Also on my list for this week - Thirteen, Secondhand Lions and Woody Allen's latest, Anything Else. Jason Biggs seems to be replacing Michael Rappaport as Woody Allen's staple actor, because he has been cast in Allen's next project along with Will Farrell, Chloe Sevigny and Jonny Lee Miller (*sigh*). Tonight and tomorrow are pretty much booked, though, with my dad's wedding and the rehearsal and all that jazz.

I wish all land lubbers a Happy "Talk Like a Pirate Day" (arrrrrr!). Drink up, me hearties - yo ho! I raise my pint of grog (er - hot pink plastic cup of grape kool-aid) to you all! And many happy returns to bonny lass, Hermione Granger, who - if she were an actual person - would on this day be three and twenty.

Oh, and because not a day passes but what I post my result from some quiz, in keeping with the semi-nautical theme on the day . . .

Oooh... I've wanted to see American Splendor since having to hear everyone else rave about it at Sundance.

I did get to see Thirteen and I really liked it. Technically, there were some interesting lighting choices and tricky (in a cool way) camera moves. I won't say anymore so as not to spoil it.

(If you hadn't guessed, anytime you want to talk movies, I'll be a rapt audience.)

Good for you in staying away from the DT. I can't resist it myself. I find it endlessly entertaining but lately, I'm wondering what the heck some of the posters have been smoking. (Uh, paranoid much?)

You're right - it's excellent. The scene where Tracy's mom is at the movie and Tracy is stumbling around looking for Evie - the lighting effects and camera work made me dizzy. It really brought out the "lost" feeling.
