I can't repost it here, because for the first time it wasn't like a copy/paste meme to be sent by email. This year it was a newfangled web form, and we couldn't even see the questions until we'd uploaded our photo submission. This was perhaps the most maddening part, because I like to look at the questions and ruminate on them for a few days and get the answers just right. And since the theme of the year is The Ten Commandments, there were (as I figured) some questions that dealt with biblical stuff, where my first impulse was to answer in a biblical way. But of course biblical very rarely reads (at least to non-religious people) as funny, which is key to these applications, so then I'm trying to find the right balance between an answer that will get me in and that will also allow me to feel okay with the Lord. :P
I think I did pretty well, considering the circumstances. We'll see if it translates into my name being on the list. I always get really invested in whether I get to go or not, but I think this year I'm feeling that more than ever. I've had a rough few months. Summer is usually a fun time for me, despite the crazy work schedule I always used to have at the church that time of year. But there was always some centerpiece to the summer that I could look forward to - a new Rowling book, meeting friends, writing meetup reports, etc. It gave me a second wind to get through the rest of the year, before BNAT gave me the boost for winter and spring. I didn't have that this summer. Yes, the move to NY has been exciting, but also incredibly stressful and lonely-making. I think, more than any other year before, I really need to be at BNAT.
We find out on Halloween.

Here is the picture. It didn't turn out as detailed as I was hoping, but they're going to crop it to "yearbook" size if I get in, and anyway I think it gets the joke across. :D I'm pleased with it.
