* (cringe) I don't like that Obama immediately went with the finger-pointing instead of answering that first guy's question.

* "I know how to do that." *takes a swig*

* Dude, McCain should not be coming off as the reasonable one, especially this early.

* Hehe, there he goes agreeing with McCain again. :P

* Now that's the McCain I remember - cronies, eh? Ooooh, you do not have room to talk about being involved with people who are responsible for this mess. DUDE, the HEAD OF YOUR CAMPAIGN was on the Freddie Mac payroll as recently as a MONTH ago!"

* Okay, I feel better now. Oliver's question is being ANSWERED instead of finger-pointing.

* "You're not interested in politicians pointing fingers." So stop doing it, Mr. Obama. I know you've got to fight back against the lies, but you can answer this stuff. "You know how to do that." :P

* Here we go - Super-McCain. UGH - THAT'S A LIE, MCCAIN! HE HAS CROSSED THE AISLE.

* Earmarks, yeah. How 'bout those grizzly bears?

* (takes another drink) "I know how to fix spending."

* Not answering the question, McCain. He specifically asked you to (takes another drink) rank them. And it's clear from your answer that energy is your priority.

* Oooooh, way to stick the rules to him, Brokaw.

* And way to make it personal to the audience - $3.80 for gas right there in Nashville.

* Dude. It's clear you don't understand economics, because earmarks alone will do NOTHING.

* "A lot of you remember..." Gah. I love you, and I'm voting for you, but ... gah. Okay, the real answer is better. You're good once you get going, sir - much like Hermione in OotP. :P

* Hatchet vs. Scalpel - good one, sir.

* Um, McCain - you don't want to be bringing up Hoover with how you've been campaigning the past few weeks.

* Ugh, enough with the tax increases, dude. It's like less than one percent of small businesses that would be affected by the increases.

* I'm so afraid that the pundits are going to say Obama is trying to pull what Palin did last week. He is doing exactly what Brokaw is trying to prevent. And McCain gets to make a smartass comment.

* "We know what the problems are ... we know how to fix them."

* UGH - enough with the commissions!

* Hee! Someone on DailyKos said "My friends" = "My precious."

* YAY! Job creation enters the debate! And good job linking how computers created a lot of jobs in our last economic boom.

* LOL, Obama: "I want to talk about energy." :P

* SHORT ANSWER, MCCAIN! Gah, Brokaw is going to choke a bitch over the time constraints.

* Obama's answers are good, but he takes the scenic route to get there. Gah, that's not what she asked! Okay, well you're answering it, but not in the terms she specified.

* McCain is breathing rather heavily. *creeped out*

* Where is the Oscar playoff music?

* "Did we hear the size of the fine?" No, because he said there WOULDN'T be a fine!

* (sigh) Obama answers the question, McCain points the finger. I wonder if I'll know what question this was referring to when I look at it again. I suspect not. Okay, here's the answer, finally. Aaaaaand it comes down to basically us needing Supa-McCain at the helm to make all the bestest decisions. (*TAKES A DRINK AGAIN*)

* Eeeeek, good question, Katie Hamm. Gah, and now Obama's pointing a finger - but it's a good point. We wouldn't even be in this situation if we hadn't taken our eye off the ball in Afghanistan. Ah, there's the answer.

* "I hate to even go into this..." then DON'T. (*takes another drink*)

* Can you get a short answer, Tom? I wonder that myself. :P

* "...some of which Mr. Obama is right on." *does a double-take*

* NOT THE SURGE AGAIN! *waits for McCain to bring up the town hall whine again*

* Yes or no, people! :P Um, how can whether or not Russia is an evil empire depend on what WE do?!

* EXCELLENT last question. Let's see how McCain "I know how to do [everything]" answers this. :D

* Um, not answering it, Obama. ... Still not answering it. ... Not at all. ... If you don't answer this, the GOP will run and run with your Michelle answer. ... Please answer it, sir. ... *sigh*

* Okay, McCain's answer is not much better. They seem like they both want to make lawyerly closing arguments. GAH, POW TIME AGAIN. (*CHUGS*)

... ok, with the snide remarks on both sides at this point I'm just imagining them having one of those fights where they flail their arms at each other.

They're like two T-Rexes in a fist fight.

I obviously want Obama to do well, but I wish he'd take the high ground.

I think, to an extent, this is experimenting. He's got a lead in the polls right now and they're probably trying to push what he can do more, as opposed to the last debate when Obama was pretty acquiescent.

Obama's doing great so far, except for the first attack

I agree, for the most part. He's saying new things and McCain is spouting talking points and saying "I know how to do that" a lot.

This! Like you, I'm a bit disappointed by some of Obama's choices tonight, but I don't think it will change much either way.

I think part of it is that he is trying to think about what he's going to say.

It makes me happy we actually have a candidate that does that, and I'm glad he's feeling comfortable enough to be himself in that respect. I still preferred the first debate, when he went after McCain less often, but I think he "won" both.
