Maybe I'm just too sensitive...

But this has to be one of the worst exercises in poor taste that I've ever seen. It's called the "Titanic Adventure Slide." Come on, kids! Slide down the ship's deck just like the real people who really died!

I saw this thing at a mall, with kids playing on it, and I felt like I was the ONLY person who was appalled. What are people thinking making a plaything like that?!

you... cannot be serious...

I couldn't even fathom making up something like this. I stared and stared at it in the mall yesterday, thinking perhaps I'd slipped into another dimension.

I just googled it... I am furious...

Who the fuck things up something like that and then, what sick company puts it into production???ffs

That is quite possibly the most bizarrely insensitive thing I've ever seen in my life. Do these people have no sense of decency and respect?

This is the equivalent of somebody, in 100 years time, making a World Trade Centre ride, or a London Bus Bomb ride. An extreme comparison, maybe, but it's somebody making a spectacle out of a tragedy.

it's exactly the same thing - it's like a WTC abseiling ride...

Yup. And the sad thing is that I can imagine something like that being made, many many years down the line.

I feel much older than 30 when I say this, but what on earth is the world coming to?

A lot more removed in time, but there's at least one and probably more amusement park ride named for Pompeii....

No, you're definitely not too sensitive! I seriously can't believe this was produced! What were the reactions of the people watching the kids play on it? Since you said you felt like the only one who was appalled, were they all smiling and seemingly having a good time?

I wonder what how the discussion went before any of the kids decided to try it.
Kid: Look Mom, a bouncy slide! I want to go down.
Mom: *sees that's it's obviously supposed to be the Titanic (despite the probable sign nearby)* Sure!
Kid: *Is too young and never saw the film or heard about the Titanic* But Mom, why does it look like a sinking ship?
Mom: *pffft* Oh, over a thousand people died when the real ship sank years ago. Go ahead! Pretend you're one of them. It'll be FUN! :D:D
Kid: ... Oookaaay.

Disgusting! I'd love to see the comment thread, if there is one, on their website!

The person who manufactured this should be sent to prison.

Someone must have sat down in a marketing conference and agreed that this was a good idea...

I saw one at Hickory Hollow Saturday. As if that mall wasn't bizarre enough....
