Interesting News About Ledger's Parnassus Role

One of the first things people began to ask after the initial shock of Heath Ledger's death started to wear off was what would happen with Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the film Ledger was still in the process of shooting. A good bit had been filmed with him, and we'd even seen pictures of him in costume.

There have been stories about a possible avenue Gilliam was considering. Since the script had Ledger's character occasionally falling into a kind of alternate reality, his appearance could change, which would make it possible for another actor (perhaps several other actors) to play the part. Well, now there's confirmation that this idea is going forward and that the actors have been chosen who will fill Ledger's shoes and, in their own way, pay tribute to him. Again, from Moriarty on AICN:

Johnny Depp
Jude Law
Colin Farrell

Love the idea, love the choices, and can't wait to see what comes of this.

I think this is a great idea. It would be a shame if Heath's final role was never seen, and I really like the choices they've made regarding the actors.

That is so cool. Probably the best thing they could have done under the circumstances.

No doubt that movie good or bad will earn it's place in movie history!
