I am stunned (and a little appalled) that Elizabeth: The Golden Age got any nominations at all. I have an abiding, nerdish love for Tudor history, and so I'm usually very forgiving of any movie on the subject... but even I couldn't stand Elizabeth: TGA. As much as I like Cate Blanchett, she was way over the top. And costume design... no... just... no.

But yes, you should definitely see Michael Clayton. It's great. It's the only Best Picture nominee I've seen, I'm embarrassed to say.
