Bear me away!

The countdown is over, and in a matter of hours I will be on my way to the airport where I will board a plane for ... well, first to Philadelphia. Then, after an 8-hour layover, during which I intend to see a bit of the actual city of Philadelphia (*cue Rocky theme*) instead of sitting on my can at the airport all that time, I'll be boarding a flight to London.

I am as excited as I could possibly be, but also a tad nervous. I've never traveled so far by myself, and it seems like there is SO much to remember about things like airport security and what I can and can't carry with me and how much money I should carry around and when I can pick up play tickets and blahblah - *sigh*. But I'll be in London, so I think I'm going to have a great time no matter what happens - unless I get captured by some Tube-dwelling cannibals. :P

I asked a coworker who was recently in London if they still had a "pee fee" in public restrooms over there - the cost is apparently up from 20p to 50p since I was there seven years ago - and today she brought me one pound in loose change, in case I had to go before I could get some coins. XD So, that, at least, is taken care of.

Anyway, as you have probably guessed, I will not be online at all tomorrow - probably not until Thursday evening, actually. So, I'm sure Mary Grandpre will unveil the Deathly Hallows cover art sometime tomorrow. ;)

Have a fantastic trip!! I just ♥ London so much. I'm sure you'll have a splendid time! :)

I wake up every day hoping it's Cover Art Day. ;) It's been March the last two books, right? And actually, I had the same exact thought a couple days ago when you were talking about how you were about to go on your trip -- "What if the cover art comes out while Pam's on an airplane??"

Do you have any way for someone to notify you? Just let me know if I can help keep you informed just in case! :)

I think Pam had come up with March based on the time between the announcement of the release date and the unveiling of the art last time. With today's news from Scholastic about their countdown, I feel pretty good about predicting that it'll be done by the time that starts on April 17.

OK, my math is quick and maybe wrong, but the OotP cover was March 20, 2003, which was a mere 93 days before the book came out, because that one was in June; 93 days before 21 July this year is April 19.

But the HBP cover was March 8, 2005 -- a full 130 days before the book. If the DH cover were to come out that many days ahead of time, it would have come out yesterday. :)

So history suggests sometime in the next month. I suppose it could actually be April 17 to start their countdown out with a bang. But basically, literally any day between now and then is possible!

Have a safe and happy trip! I'm sure you'll do fine traveling by yourself - it's kind of nervous-making but also really exciting!

Be sure to take a stroll along the South Bank from Westminster Bridge (that's the one in your avatar :D) along to the Tate Modern. It's quite wonderful, especially late afternoon/early evening.

Have a great trip. Oh and when you arrive - welcome to the UK!

Ther IS a lot to remember at the airport. I flew to Houston and back recently and found that they're asking everyone to take their ziploc bags of liquids out of the carryon suitcase for inspection now. My bottles were tiny enough (I got them from the bins at the drugstore specifically selling travel sizes of shampoos and conditioners) but I was informed that I had them in a bag that was too large! (It was a gallon bag, not a quart.) Well, good grief. I had my electric toothbrush in there, too, which wouldn't have fit in a quart bag. No one bothered me about it--they just said it was too big so I'd know for future reference.

If you want to email me at the name of my LJ + yahoo.com I can send you my cell number if you're actually going to be anywhere near the Philadelphia Museum of Art (*cue Rocky Theme*--as you said, LOL), since I live just three blocks away from the museum and I'm off from work today. If I don't see you during your layover, though, have a fantastic trip!

Gah! Didn't get this message until I'd already left. Three blocks from the museum? I would have loved to have met up with you! *pouts*

Oh, darn! Well, as it turns out, I was stuck in the house most of the day supervising the plumber. On the up side, though, we no longer have water gushing out of the u-bend underneath the kitchen sink, there's a new faucet in the kitchen and on the bathtub upstairs and the bathroom sink drains in less than a week. This must be what it is to live as royalty. ;)

Enjoy Equus!

Have a great time on your journey! We'll be looking forward to the details.

What are your plans while here? Anything exciting?

If you have any other questions about London, I might be able to help.

Have a fantastic trip. I hope you really enjoy the play and I'll recommend the bus tour, it's a bit more expensive than local transport but you really do get to see everything so you can do your own thing on the tube the following day.

Remember Maccas toilets are free.
