Went to see the 1922 silent film Nosferatu last night, with live band providing the musical score. It was incredibly cool, and genuinely scary. It's so bizarre how Max Schreck can be so over-the-top creepy in the middle of all of the over-the-top silent movie acting everyone else is doing.
This movie occasionally shows its age, but there are some real chill-down-the-spine moments, including the above shot, and the famous scene where Orlock rises from his coffin. The movie is very loosely based on the Dracula story, and I found myself trying to match up the scenes and characters. I also thought it was interesting how they changed the idea of Orlock's "kryptonite."
In other news, I can feel myself starting to get sick again. Stupid weather that can't make up its mind whether to be hot or cold.
