Course, there are some film critics, who while appreciating the mainstream acceptance of a gay romance film, consider the film an "arted" up piece of slash-style fiction designed to appeal to straight suburban housefraus and gay men. (And surprise, surprise, the film was marketed to suburban women who went out to see the film in droves.)

In some ways, its just a Harlequin romance with two cute, masculine and uber-masculine men making out with each other.
