ETA: Thank you
chicagoamy for the very amusing Christmas card. [/edited portion]
Why is my layout screwed up?!! AAAAARRRGH!
Okay, now that that's out of my system, I'll continue in a more civil tone.
I had a pretty good Christmas. I got some sweaters, a jewelry box, some bath stuff, and another copy of PotC (which I gave to my parents, since the copy I gave them starts jerking right around the time the Black Pearl arrives in Port Royal). I was also assured that a gift certificate to Tower or some such place was forthcoming. (squee!)
I saw ROTK again last night with the worst audience yet. I went to the theater in Franklin (with all the rich people) and this was the phlegmiest audience I have ever seen. Everyone was sniffling (mostly due to the tear-shedding), but every key emotional moment was ruined for me by the lady next to me hocking back more mucus than any human being should have residing in their entire body. I wanted to turn to her and say "For the love of GOD! Please see an ear, nose & throat specialist!"
There was a smattering of applause at the end and I could tell there was a handful of Tolkien geeks in the room who would have leapt and cheered at the appropriate times if they hadn't been in a room full of hoity-toitys.
To top it all off, though, I specifically went 30 miles out of my way because my cubicle-neighbor went to this specific theater at this specific time and saw the PoA trailer. But nooo-ooooooo. No POA trailer for me. I shall try again today. I'm also hoping to see Cold Mountain today as well, and determine if it is a serious Best Picture contender against my hobbitses.
I hope you all had a good holiday.
