This makes me absolutely sick. The resolution is being brought forth at the Southern Baptist Convention, which is taking place right across the street from my church this month. Here's the meat of it:
Jeez, talk about missing the point! Isn't that, like, the diametric opposite of the Great Commission? I am disgusted that people who share my faith can even contemplate such a thing. To abandon the very people we are supposed to be reaching, because "Ew! They're sinners!" (Hello, kettle - you're black!), and to build a wall around ourselves so that Teh Evil Gays can't get in and infect our impressionable children OMG!!1 is just depraved to me.
The resolution encourages every SBC church to investigate whether the school district in which it is located has either a homosexual club or any curriculum or program that attempts to influence children to accept homosexual behavior as a legitimate lifestyle. If the school district has any of these, the resolution urges churches to inform parents of this fact and encourage them to remove their children from the district's schools immediately.

I think that's not a very productive way to go about teaching your children how to differentiate, and correctly choose between, right and wrong. Not to mention that it's not a very good way to teach your children how to follow the Lord's example of loving the sinner and not the sin. Hello! He was right there among the sinners--"the whole have no need of a physician, but rather the wounded."
The way life is, the schools my children will be going to will most likely have gay-straight alliance type organizations. It could be rather difficult if one of my children were to want to become involved in such a club, but really, that proposition is beyond the pale.
