A couple of my fandoms have had exciting reveals this week. First, though the show is long over, I still follow the actors from The West Wing, and there's been a good bit about some of them in entertainment news in the past couple of days. Bradley Whitford is going to play Jake's dad in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Janel Moloney is going to be on Blacklist (which I guess means I have to watch that now), and a lot of the WW cast reunited for another Funny Or Die video.

Second, OMG HANNIBAL NEWS! There have been loads of pics from shooting in Italy for the past few weeks, but the big news yesterday was that Richard Armitage (!) has been cast as Francis Dolarhyde (a.k.a. the "Tooth Fairy", a.k.a. The Great Red Dragon ... go ahead and insert your Thorin/dragon joke here). He's already posted a creepy Tweet with a quote from Red Dragon, and now I suppose I get to have another crush on an abnormally hot fictional serial killer.

The other Hannibal news is that they're currently casting for the role of Will's wife, Molly (which certainly seems to have upset the Hannigram shippers who still have not read the books or seen the films), and they're planning to make a time jump in episode 8. That part I expected, but what was surprising was that the time jump would be *years*, not months. So we'll see Will thoroughly settled into a "normal life" with Molly and her son (renamed Walter, presumably because they thought it would be too confusing to have a character named "Willy" when there's already a Will). And he'll get a real, actual break from being manipulated/stabbed/shot/having acute encephalitis. Molly's role is slated to last four episodes, which I'm guessing just refers to S3 because they've said repeatedly that the actual events of Red Dragon (or their version of them, that is) will happen in the first half of S4. (Armitage is going to be in 6 episodes, and again I'm guessing that's just for S3, with an option for more if they get renewed for S4.)

I've long been looking forward to getting to the actual novel stuff because I'm anxious to see what they do with it. One of my favorite things about what we've seen so far is that they've already used so much of the iconic stuff from the novels in other places and for different purposes that even people who have read the novels and seen the films won't really know what's coming. Also, the inevitable modernization of a novel that was published in 1981 means that certain things *have* to be different. (For example, Dolarhyde will have to have a different job and therefore a different point of access to his victims than in the book because I don't think anyone has that particular job anymore. Like, is there anyone who actually takes their home movies to a processing place now that you can just edit on your home computer?)
