I've recently been watching the first season of Masters of Sex and it's REALLY good. It's difficult to conceive how revolutionary what Masters and Johnson were doing really was at that time, and honestly, it's kind of strange to think about people in the 1950s even being that sexual (similar to how strange it was with Mad Men at first), because what I know of that era comes from movies and television from that era and ... pssht. They'd have us believe babies came from storks.
I'm only on episode 4, but I really don't like Ethan. At all. Maybe he gets better later, and I certainly hope so, but his entitlement issues piss me off. I don't think he loves Virginia at all, though he's certainly infatuated with her. It's like he was so gobsmacked by the experience of fellatio that he's let it convince him this is more than she has REPEATEDLY insisted that it is. And then he hits her in the face and I'm just done. I guess I should cut him some slack, because I do think he's well written as a guy who's presumably trapped by the attitudes of the time. He's just not enjoyable to watch. :P
Looking forward to getting to Allison Janney's appearance, as I've heard she's really great in this (well, she's great in everything, isn't she?). I wonder if I can get finished before season two starts on the 13th.
