Another twofer today, because I unexpectedly had to work yesterday and didn't have a chance to post. Luckily, though, these two kind of make a logical pair, being two of my favorite moments where stuff blows up.
And below those, Damon and Carlton's appearance on Letterman last night, with the "Top 10 Spoilers" for the finale. #5 is GOLD (also #2).
DO OVER!
Can Jack and the Gang (sounds like a lost - hah! - 70s supergroup, y/y?) really hit the reset button and prevent the Oceanic plane from ever crashing? Daniel Faraday thinks they can. Apparently, you can only change the future if you change it in some freakin' huge way like setting off a bomb. That always kind of bugged me, which is why I'm convinced the alternate timeline is not real but a deliberate construct.
And then chaos and the incredibly sad moment with Juliet and Sawyer. Even if you don't like Juliet (or Sawyer, for that matter), this has got to hit you. It kind of makes me giggle how they build the tension before Jack drops the thing. Sawyer's all "what are you waiting for?!!" and then they all wait and exchange looks, as if they're waiting for the music to crescendo to just the right volume. :P
Great scene.
THE AMAZING, EXPLODING ARZT
And on the other end of the spectrum, an explosion that's ... I have to say it, funny. Leslie Arzt, a science teacher, insists on coming along to help retrieve the dynamite stashed in the Black Rock, because he seems to be the only person who realizes how dangerous it is, even when not lit. This was a great moment, not just for itself, but for all scenes in the future where any character handled or went near the dynamite. Such is the power of The Amazing, Exploding Arzt.
Of course, now that we know Jack, Locke, Kate, and Hurley wouldn't have died anyway, it kind of changes how you see all those scenes. Still, it's one of the most memorable deaths of many deaths in the show.
