Finished Season Two of Lost last night. I'm a bit behind where I hoped I'd be at this point, but hopefully I can still manage to finish before the season premiere.

So, where was I when we last spoke of such things? ... Ah yes, Sawyer reading a touching tale of a girl getting her period. :P

* Do we ever find out who closed the blast doors in Lockdown? The next time we see it happen is in the season finale, when Desmond does it, but he has to mess with the wires. Is there a master button somewhere?

* I had a wild theory when they found the parachute with all the food, because it reminded me VERY much of The Hunger Games, where the sponsors can send the tributes aid in the form of food or medicine or weapons. The recent Spanish-language promo with the big chess board probably contributed to it as well (along with the references to backgammon in the show), and I had a thought that this was all a huge piece of meta, where everything is playing out for someone's amusement. "Truman! It's television!"

* I love how in almost every episode (and maybe every episode period), the flashbacks show some unexpected connection between two or three of the survivors. Locke inspecting Nadia's home, Desmond using Libby's boat, Kate's mom waiting on Sawyer in the diner, etc. I wonder if there's a Reason for that or if it's just part of the whole flavor of "destiny" about the show.

* I am really intrigued by the whole arc of Locke losing his faith. His conflicts with Mr. Eko are really pretty fascinating to me, because I do think that it is much easier not to believe than it is to believe. Locke, like many believers, allows doubt to shake and discredit his entire belief system, instead of allowing new information to reshape and evolve his ideas.

* Oh Hurley, if I didn't love you before, "Dave" would have left me no choice. This episode reminds me a lot of the episode of Buffy where the reality of her world is called into question - is it real or has she really been in the mental insitution making it up all this time? And like that episode, there's still not a completely definitive answer in "Dave." Oh my, but I wanted to hug him so much when he was trying to list things he liked about himself. I think I may have actually hugged my computer here. :P

* I know they're not terribly important characters, but I love Bernard and Rose.

* Dude. Michael. I really, really disliked him for his disturbingly calculated plan. And I was very glad that the truth did come out. But I think the writers (and Harold Perrineau, for that matter) did an EXCELLENT job of showing his perspective and desperation. He really did not feel he had a choice, and if it came down to the lives of Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley or his son, there was only one thing he could have done. And how cruel was it for Mrs. Klugh to say almost exactly what that lawyer said to him during the custody battle?! HARSH!

* Oh Desmond, my Desmond! So glad to see you back, brotha! Love the little backstory with Penny and OMG she was not kidding when she said she could find him anytime she wanted!

* I'll probably learn this when I start the next season, but ... what exactly happens with the fail-safe? Does it destroy the hatch? What about the magnetic whatever that I don't understand? Does it no longer continue to build up so that they don't have to push the button anymore? And why did nothing happen that one time the timer went past zero for a second and those weird heiroglyphics showed up? Can you push the button three seconds late but not five? *confused*

Looking forward to Season Three!
