Watching Gold Diggers of 1933, which I actually saw a few weeks ago in Bryant Park but the outdoor setting means a lot of dialogue sounds muffled. A few observations:
* The show they put on in the movie is supposed to be playing at the Broadhurst Theater in New York, which is where many of us saw Equus this past fall/winter. I'm *DYING* at the idea of these elaborate Busby Berkley musical numbers taking place on that tiny stage.
* There's a number called "Pettin' in the Park" that is ABSOLUTELY DEPRAVED. It ends with all the chorus girls and the featured actress in iron bathing suits - I can't help being reminded of a certain fanfic with a certain chastity belt - and the lead actor is handed a metal cutter (by an unusually old-looking baby) with which to, errr, release her.
* I have an inexplicable crush on Warren William who plays the cold fish older brother J. Lawrence Bradford.
