Going a little literary today, a perhaps a tad controversial. ;-)
Jo and Laurie - Little Women
Yes, I've read the book and know that they don't get together. But this is still a pretty stellar screen snog, and a crystalline example (in my opinion) of actors having too good chemistry. In fact, every time I hear a Harry/Hermione shipper talk about Dan and Emma's chemistry undermining the intended pairings of the Harry Potter series, I think of this scene, my feelings about the canon Little Women pairings (which I like, btw), and how nothing in the HP films has made me feel even remotely like this scene does.
Despite my satisfaction with the canon pairings, I find myself wishing that this movie had a non-canon scene where Christian Bale and Winona Ryder get busy in the attic. And it kind of breaks my heart to see Laurie in this movie follow that kiss by saying all the wrong things ("you won't have to write") and reminding me that they're not right for each other. But oh man, Christian Bale rocks it telling Jo she's going to suffer love someday, despite her current protestations and ah, the heartache in his face as he realizes this mythical man she's eventually going to love is never going to be him.
Gosh, I love this scene!
