[POLITICS] Voting for a Democrat, Rooting for McCain

Goodness knows I have no intention of voting for McCain today or on Election Day. But I'm kind of rooting for McCain to lock up the Republican nomination today. If Ann Coulter hates him, there must be something right about him. Furthermore, all of the fire he's taking from that branch of the Republican party that I think have been part of the problem, part of the reason there has been SUCH an intense partisan divide since the early 1990s, is all the more reason for me to hope for him to do well today.

In other political news...

If you live in one of the Super Tuesday states, I hope you're planning on voting today, and voting not for the candidate you think is most likely to win the nomination but the candidate who most closely speaks to your hopes for the country.

I know the feeling ... I don't want McCain to be the next President, but I do want him to win the nomination@

I'm still having problems with whom I want to vote for...

I have until 8pm EST to make that decision.

But I'm still up in the air since Edwards dropped out last week.

I'm not going to be voting today. In order to vote in the Republican primary, I'd have to register as a Republican, something I simply refuse to do. I could vote in the Democratic primary, but I can't honestly cast my vote for either Clinton or Obama (and while in theory the idea of voting for Edwards just for you sounds like a fun idea, it doesn't fit my ideology :P). So, I'm stuck. The only thing I can think of doing is voting for Kingsley Shacklebolt as a write-in. :P

I guess I'll just have to wait until the general election. *sigh*

Who is the Coulter woman?

Yes, even I can look past my pragmatism (perhaps the Democrat is even more likely to win the general election if pitted against a weinermobile) and say that I'd be happier too if McCain gets the nom.

I'm a republican (don't get to vote til March though) and I'm in the same position, though of course from the other side. I'm a McCain supporter and even though I think Hillary would be much easier to beat in the general election, I'd rather have Obama win the nomination. I just think the country needs a more moderate, non-divisive President at this time. Maybe that'll help calm things down a bit...
