You're gonna be bothered by how cool I am.

I just wish it didn't feel so competitive, but perhaps that's only my perception.

I keep people saying this (only you're the first person I've seen come right out and SAY it - before I was seeing hints here and there ... ) and I'm sort of baffled about it. In fact I asked Cyndi if I was missing something. I mean ... (forgive me if I totally end up butchering this and make you feel worse because I promise that isn't my intent at ALL) ... R/Hr is my OTP and while I acccept H/G as canon I don't really ship it perse. BUT having said that - I don't have any problem with the H/G shippers ... because a lot of people love and adore that ship and I certainly don't want to take away from that.

Hrm ... My thing is that while H/G didn't work for me on a personal level I can understand that it works for others and that's okay with me. I guess I'm confused that others don't see that? Or are others feeling sensitive and upset that it doesn't work for everyone? It's sort of like the exchange I had with mrsbombidil the other day (I'd link but can't seem to find it - it's on 12_12_12's essay) where we sort of agreed to disagree - to me that's the best way to do it.

Because I almost feel like if I go into details about why it doesn't work (again for me ) then I find that others (who it obviously did work for) feel as though I'm invalidating their feelings which is NOT what I want to do at all. But on the same token if I do explain why then others saying how wrong I am then I feel as if I'm invalidated. It's a catch 22 and there are no easy solutions. Having said all of that I can understand what JKR was going for and I certainly don't think a lot of the arguments thrown at her for H/G (and H/G itself) are very fair or valid.

I guess I have a hard time seeing the competition level too because I feel as if it's all personal preferences and I try very hard to respect that others read things differently. I don't know if I always suceed but I do try.
