my thoughts?
1. This is the Star Wars for this generation--even more than LOTR. Unlike LOTR it came out of mostly whole-cloth, with no book leading the way. Everything is here, from the Campbell touches to the love triangle with the good boy, the tomboy and the rogue.
2. Sorry, America, but I'm a J/E shipper. Resolutely and firm, in that same wrong way as the poor Harmony gang. I know I'm on the losing end of the battle but I believe so strongly in the doomed romance of J/E that I'll cling to it for as long as possible. And kudos to the filmmakers for throwing ALL the J/E stuff my way. It's there and more obvious on a second viewing.
3. Y'all, I think Bill Nighy is hot. I can't hate Davy Jones, simply because I LOVE Bill Nighy. He was fantastic in Love Actually, and so, you know. I'm bad that way.
4. Mackenzie Crook's eye sicks me out.
