Have now pretty much seen the whole of GOF

WHY are they tempting us with all these juicy clips?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

* OMG the scene that starts Harry's and Ron's fight is HEARTBREAKING! "That's me. Ron Weasley, Harry's stupid friend." *cries* GAH, I just wanted to smack and hug them both!

* LOVE the "I'm not an owl" scene. Okay, a huge part of it has to do with the OMG-OBHWF foreshadowing. :P But Harry's bit is quite funny ("Wait. What?") and the scene is a little poignant for Ron, I think (see "dragon" comments below). And I can't help observing that Harry is looking off to Hermione's right for quite a bit of that scene. Seriously, Ginny doesn't even have to be there, and Harry repeatedly looks at her. *happy foreshadowish sigh*

* Okay. The dragon thing. I was really upset about this last night until I thought about how it fits with the "I'm not an owl" scene. These two scenes happen on the same day. Harry is wearing the same outfit, and Ron's message to Harry in the daytime scene (through middleman!Hermione) is that Hagrid is looking for him (to show him the dragons).

I think this is just Kloves' way of compressing a few scenes together. It's a kind of shorthand to illustrate the fact that Harry and Ron aren't speaking. This saves him writing endless scenes where they ... don't speak to each other. That would take an awful lot of time and be really boring. Jo can pull it off in the books, because we are in Harry's head and can see exactly how it affects him. But the screenwriter has to show it in a different way. And a good way to do that is to have something that Harry is supposed to know, but doesn't because he and Ron are on the outs. Could Kloves have picked something else for Harry to not have known about, making Ron look a little less malicious? Yeah. But this way the fight stays closely tied to the main plot, and saves a lot of time.

Plus, you know, it's possible that Ron just doesn't realize how life-threatening the dragon task is going to be until he actually sees the champions (and Harry specifically) having to deal with them. Short-sighted, perhaps, but better that than not caring if Harry dies.

* I have one word for the "we need to find dates" scene. And that word is *SQUEE-BOMB*! Fred asking Angelina to the ball - HEAVEN! And OMG the exquisite bicker between Ron and Hermione. Kudos to Kloves for finding something just as bad as "trolls" for Ron to say - *LOVES*. And yay for Equally-Insulting-to-Neville!Harry (Dude, was he making a schizo crack with the "Neville can go with himself"? That will make him feel like CRAP when he finds out about Neville's parents.). Yes, the boy can be a jerk.

* I'm loving the stuff with Moody more and more. I was hoping to hear "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!", though. Ah well, maybe it's still in there. Love him busting Seamus.

* The maze bit is creepy, yo! The way Dumbledore explains about how it works? Is it possible that Viktor attacking Fleur could be a product of the maze (or at least that we might be led to think that)? And gosh, the look on Dumbledore's face when he spots "Moody" helping Harry. Like he knows some stuff's about to go down, but has no idea what it is or what to do about it. *pats Dumbledore*

* I love that moment just before the Yule Ball when Hermione peers out nervously. I love pretty much that whole scene. McGonagall telling Harry that he and the other champions have to lead the dance - "Well, now you know." Parvati saying "Doesn't she look beautiful?" about Hermione and Harry saying "Yes she does." about Cho. :D Yes, the thing where Hermione comes down the stairs made me instantly think of Rhett Butler first laying eyes on Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind. HOWEVER ... the little wave she gives Harry is PRICELESS. Very much a "between us girls" moment.

Oh, so giddy with excitement! I'm loving these little reviews, they are such good semi-spoils. I've always been kind of wary when it comes to the movies because of how Ron is played out (and that's not a jibe at Kloves, more so on the directing). Can anyone tell what the 'dragon scene' is all about and why it's upsetting? Thanks!
