All I ever see in most subway stations - apart from Times Square, which is all HP all the time - is the "bad guys" HBP poster with Bellatrix, Draco, Snape, etc. But to my delight I spotted this a couple weeks ago at the Brooklyn Bridge station.

Look at Ginny up there with the big guys! Including, for some reason, Gandalf the Grey! :P

MAYBE Michael Jackson "flourished under Reagan" for - among other reasons, like hitting a right age at a right time - the same reasons a hell of a lot of OTHER pop acts flourished in the 1980s. Because people wanted an ESCAPE from what was going on in the real world. Seriously, I love the music of the 80s like nothing else, but just LOOK at the froth that we were in love with back then! Even acts that did truly great work in the 1970s, like David Bowie, were producing sugar-shock pop in the 80s. Nobody wanted to think about anything! Many, many silly movies in the 80s were hugely popular for the same reason, I think.

Why does this man still have a voice in our culture?! Every time I hear him talk I want to punch him in the face.
