Hopefully, my choice for today will not jinx anything election-wise. :P But I thought it was worth looking - today of all days - at the nightmare that was Election 2000 to highlight how important, how complicated, and how precarious is what America does today.

...is the thought of the images going out on Al Jazeera tonight. Images of an African American named Barack Hussein Obama being named the next President of the United States.

Word is that Cabinet appointments will be rolling out very soon, probably starting tomorrow. I can't wait to see what you do next, Mr. President-Elect.

ETA: Okay, second most moving thing is that, while he's clearly pleased to have won, you can already see the weight of what he's about to undertake on his face. He doesn't just want to be President to be President. You can TELL he's serious about making this country a better place.
