Anyone remember a show called Perfect Strangers? About Larry and his cousin Balki from Mypos? That used to be one of my favorite shows (possibly THE favorite) in junior high. There was one particularly memorable episode in the third season, where Larry and Balki try to sell the Myposian "dessert of kings" - bibbibabkas. It was the most hilarious bit of television I'd ever seen at the time, and the morning after it first aired, EVERYONE at school was asking everyone else if they'd seen it.
The whole episode was hysterical as I recall, but the BEST part was when Balki and Larry were making the bibbibabkas and singing the "Bibbibabka Ditty" (sung to the tune of "Limbo Rock"). Song and dance used to be kind of a running gag on that show - YouTube has a couple of compilations of musical moments (including Balki singing Rick Astley - Rick Roll FTW!). But the Ditty was supposedly an essential part of the baking process. I've wondered ever since that episode aired if I'd ever get to see the Bibbibabke Ditty again, and now thanks to the wonder of YouTube, I CAN. Click below and see the genius of the Bibbibabka episode - not the whole thing, but the Ditty and a little bit at the end. It is a wonder of comedic timing and alliteration.
