connielane: (sexy news boy)
* My neighborhood got off very easy - mostly just bad thunderstorms. There were some 19 tornadoes in the outlying counties around my city yesterday, and there were 10 fatalities from the weather. We cancelled the event at church last night, and on my way home I passed through a cloud of smoke from where an 18-wheeler had (I presume) been hit by lightning. The storm path came all the way from Mississippi - where a lot of my family lives - so we're trying to get in touch with people today. [livejournal.com profile] edeainfj, did any of this come near you?

* In other news, I finally got to my W.O.M.B.A.T. results. Hopefully this and any future tests will lead to some cool revelation (title, perhaps?, though I hope it doesn't take as long as [livejournal.com profile] melissa_tlc is hypothesizing :P). If you got a good score I'm very happy for you, but I don't need to hear about it and I'm not going to be sharing mine. This isn't about me being self-conscious about my own results, but I'm seeing people get their feelings hurt over this, and I don't want to feed that by either gloating or sulking.

* Job search has not been very fruitful, so I'm now on the lookout for a part-time job to supplement my income. Hopefully something in a bookstore or video store - no food service, no way - where I might actually enjoy what I'm doing.

* Am somewhat amused by this recent discovery of a Book of Judas. It surprises me that people think this is going to change the face of religion as we know it or something. Anyone with the most basic knowledge of the Bible should be suspicious of two things: 1)the document is 1700 years old, which is a few hundred years too recent to have actually been written by Judas Iscariot, and 2)um, it's written by, you know, Judas. This seems like it's just piggy-backing on the whole DaVinci Code phenomenon.

* Wow, is this the most depressing LJ entry ever or what? In happier news, I will be able to get my plane ticket to SLC this coming week. Baby steps, yo. :D
