Have been away from computer all day, because a virus is infecting some of the computers in our network. My cubemate, the Techno Kween, has spent most of her day trying to get me back up and running. *loves* You don't realize how much you've been hypnotized by the computer until you have to spend a day without it. I've actually been able to get quite a bit done today - mostly cleaning my cubicle, but that was a major task.

In other news, I went to Tower Records and picked up their only copy of one of my favorite childhood movies that came out on DVD today - The Pirate Movie. Not really a great movie, and not really a good pirate movie at all (it certainly doesn't merit the title of "THE Pirate Movie"), but it's a lot of fun and contains a nearly naked Christopher Atkins. And you've got to love the cheesy 80s musical numbers - as well as the songs lifted from Pirates of Penzance. While I was there I found a re-release of one of the CDs I lost when my car was stolen a couple years ago - "A Portrait of the Cambridge Singers". Great Madrigal memories on that disc.

I've been trying to decide between two pretty major expenditures. I really really want to go to NYC and see Spamalot. But the Nashville Film Festival is next month, and for less money than a plane ticket to NYC and a ticket to Spamalot I could get an all-access pass that would get me into all the movies as well as the parties and opening and closing galas. I'm leaning toward the film festival, though, mainly because film is what I want to do as a job and because it would provide me an opportunity to make some connections, however slight. I would truly be heartbroken to miss Spamalot - the original cast and everything, before it even has a chance to win any Tonys - but in addition to costing a great deal more, I'd rather not go and experience that by myself. It would be fun, but then who would I share it with? The last time I went to NY, I went by myself and stayed for 6 days. It was cool to be there - I even got a chance to go to the Met to see Turandot - but it was sort of an empty experience. It's not that I need other people to have a good time, but I've just done so much of that for the last dozen years, I think I've forgotten how to be around other people.

Whew! Didn't mean for that to be so long. I'm just so happy to be back on my computer, I can't stop typing. :P
