Not sure why TLC isn't linking to these directly - perhaps they're not supposed to - but the new Mattel toy line exhibit has afforded us several new pics from Goblet of Fire. They're not great quality, but with at least a month or two before we'll see a trailer, we'll take what we can get, eh? Especially when these give us our first look at Fleur and Cedric.

Cedric in the maze. Hmm. Not what I expected - even judging from Pattinson's pictures. The maze looks very creepy, though. Very "Shining"-esque.

Fleur in the maze. I know Fleur is only 1/4 veela, but she's not what I expected at all, either. Maybe I'll feel differently when I see her in action. Love the hoodie, though. And I love how they appear to be going outside Harry's POV for the 3rd Task. Makes it creepier that way.

Harry and Ron. Not sure when this is supposed to be, but kudos to the makeup guys for making Radcliffe look so young! Almost too young. Maybe it's that he's standing next to Rupert and his "mean stature" is accentuated, but he just looks so small! So canon!

Krum turns on Cedric. Eeeep! Very nice capture. And, errr, he has a crooked wand. *snicker*

Neville dancing. Awwwww! I saw this one last night and thought it was Harry, but this is just Too. Cute. Err, I guess. No idea what the context is, though.

Ron in bed. This one is my favorite. (And no, not for the reason you might think. Ew.) It could be in one of two places in GoF - after the Ron-Harry fight or after the Yule Brawl(c). I'm thinking the latter is more likely. Either way - YAY for something besides comic relief moments for Ron!

Great pics, but ... No Hermione? :(

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Don Cheadle - HOTEL RWANDA
Johnny Depp - FINDING NEVERLAND
Leonardo DiCaprio - THE AVIATOR
Clint Eastwood - MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Jamie Foxx - RAY

Um, Jamie Foxx. Duh. He's got sentiment on his side, as well as just about every other major award this season. The only thing that might cause him a problem would be if his votes get split with his nominations in the supporting category. I'll be utterly shocked if he doesn't win. Having said that, though, I do truly believe that DiCaprio deserves it just as much. Four out of the five nominees are based on real people, and there's a tendency to do imitations with those roles. As much as I loved Foxx's performance, a big part of it was imitation. There's not a lot of footage of Howard Hughes. DiCaprio practically created the character from scratch. Also, though he still looks quite young, his performance makes you forget that. He is Hughes for the duration of that movie. So, I'm almost positive the Oscar will go to Foxx, but a win for DiCaprio - while being an upset, for sure - would not be undeserved.

And can I just say again how ticked I am that Paul Giamatti was snubbed?

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Annette Bening - BEING JULIA
Catalina Sandino Moreno - MARIA FULL OF GRACE
Imelda Staunton - VERA DRAKE
Hilary Swank - MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Kate Winslet - ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

This one is not really fair for me to judge, because I've only seen three of the nominees. The buzz has been all about Bening and Swank and the "rematch" of the 2000 Oscar race. But personally, I'd like to see them split the vote, bringing Staunton out on top. I am DYING from not being able to see Vera Drake - *curses at whoever is responsible for it NEVER playing here* - but I'm just enamored of Imelda Staunton in general. As for predictions...I think Swank is the Woman Most Likely. And that's a good outcome - she earned it with that "buying the speedbag" scene (among many other moments in that movie). Wow.

I'll do another one of these later this week for director and picture. I know you're shivering... with antici..
