Well, [livejournal.com profile] seviet, I finally got around to seeing Chung King Express, and I *LOVED* it. It reminded me a lot of a Pedro Almodovar film and a little of Amelie. I was glad to be able to drool over Takeshi Kaneshiro - who I admired a couple of weeks ago in House of Flying Daggers. But he was such a sad guy in this movie. I think I related the most to him, though. I had not seen Tony Leung in anything before, but he was quite enjoyable as well. And Faye Wong just rules. If only her methods of wooing worked in the real world. :P

The movie feels a lot more like a French film than a Hong Kong film (understandable, I guess, for reasons I won't bore anyone with :P). It was a blessing and a curse to have rented a copy of this movie that was part of a Tarantino collection, because at the end he came on and gave a list of "if you liked that, you'll love this" films. My to-watch list is getting rather intimidating.

But I lovelovelove Chung King Express, and I can see why it's one of your favorites. :)

Next up in the screening room ... Benny and Joon. I promise. :D
Music:: "California Dreamin'" - The Mamas and the Papas
